Dan Seifert

Scenic Design and Carpentry

About Me

Hi, I’m Daniel (Dan) Seifert, a theatre carpenter and scenic technician from Colorado. I earned my BFA in Applied Theatre Technology and Design from the Metropolitan State University of Denver, where I built a strong foundation in scenic construction and technical theatre while developing a strong passion for scenic design.

Most recently, I completed my fourth season with the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) and my second year as Lead Carpenter. Throughout my work at theatres across the United States, I have taken on increasing leadership responsibilities in fast-paced repertory environments. My experience includes constructing, installing, maintaining, striking, and changing over scenery for multiple productions opening simultaneously across as many as four venues.

As Lead Carpenter, I organize daily projects, guide interns and crew members, communicate priorities, troubleshoot technical challenges, and keep work moving efficiently under demanding production schedules. These experiences have strengthened my ability to lead by example, collaborate with other production department heads, and transform a designer’s ideas into safe, practical, and effective scenery.

My experience also includes working in outdoor production environments, including events at Denver Botanic Gardens. This work taught me to consider changing weather conditions, uneven terrain, site access, audience safety, and the effects of outdoor exposure on scenery and materials.

I take pride in maintaining high standards of safety and craftsmanship while creating an environment where crew members feel supported, understand their responsibilities, and can confidently contribute their skills.
